Impact on Ecosystems
A catastrophic event is any man-made or natural incident that is usually harmful and disruptive to the ecosystem. They effect ecosystems in a major way. There are many types of catastrophic events, which include floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, and droughts, which are what this website is about. These are catastrophic events that effect the ecosystems, so they are called natural disasters. Some catastrophic events can briefly affect an ecosystem and make some changes to it, but others can very drastically effect it, and in some cases, the ecosystem may never be able to heal itself! Catastrophic events cause many organisms to die and can even cause the entire food web to collapse.
